My DD gave me a list of the books she needs for her A level course and as usual I did the hunt online...
Amazon
Ebay
then other book stores.
Amazon were cheapest until you added delivery.
Then I looked on Waterstones.com and discovered that if you have the books delivered to your local store the delivery is free no minimum spend. :T
They give you a whole list of your nearest stores and you choose which one you want to pick up from.
I shopped through RPoints to get 4% cashback too.
Returns are handled through the shop too so no postage costs anywhere.
Hope someone finds that useful.

Play.com do some incredibly low priced best sellers etc. Just got the Richard Hammond new cars book for £5.99 as compared to £10 in WHSmiths or amazon.0

Amazon do free delivery over £15 (as long as you are not in a rush).
Often I find things cheaper through the "Amazon marketplace" and I've had very good experiences (brand new, shrinkwrapped items).0 -

whsmith you seem to be able to deliver to store for free0 -
I'd second the Book Depository suggestion; as well as offering free delivery (worldwide!), they do a direct price comparison with Amazon -- their prices are usually, but not always better, than Amazon's. Also, their customer care seems very good -- they are quick, informative and able to solve problems (I've only used email though).0
