We used to do our food shopping on credit card - going to aldi was the reason we swapped to a cash system and its been the best thing we have ever done - we spend loads less, aren't building up debt and are managing everything better as a result
Like I say it is paid every month so not I pay it every month so not building any debt but it's just the problem that we don't have enough to pay the credit card and pay a full months groceries from the same money, I am working on it bit by bit though so will get there in the end, I hope

  • Good morning everyone,
just debating whether to hang out washing or not as it is a bit overcast here.

Have decided to make chocolate cake today. All the talk of them has put me in the notion. Have also to make a madeira cake for my brother as a thankyou, so the oven will be on anyway. It will also allow me to use up some of the baking supplies I have stock piled. Another bit used from the food mountain.

Not having dinner tonight as I have been invited to a catered birthday party. So I will only need a snack this evening as I am bound to be unable to resist the food.

Sounds like everyone is having a good week. Let's hope we stay strong and it continues.

Great start to this month i have been to the shops twice in 2 weeks!! 12 NSD's!! and to make things better i have plenty of eggs milk marge in, and will be making some rolls this evening to save buying bread. i am REALLY making an effort to not spend. i am going to have a batch baking evening tonight as we are at eisteddfod tomorrow, and helping MIL to move house on sunday.
i am planning to make soup, twinks, cookies, muffins, sausage rolls and apple & raspberry crumbles (if i can get raspberries off the allotment). phew. probably a bit too ambitious but hey!

hope everyone's challenge is going well.

rosieben, you are an absolute star and I can't thank you enough for taking control of the lists! :A

I am embarrassed to admit to slamming my laptop closed last week a temper :o As a reult I managed to wreck the screen so while it's away being fixed I have limited internet access and can only get onlne by borrowing the kids netbooks. Hopefully this evening I will manage to wrestle Mr Pink's laptop off him the moment he gets in the door and get the lists updated.

Apologies to everyone for not updating them before now.

Good morning everyone. A NSD as far as groceries concerned yesterday, but today have to nip in for a few bits for breakfasts and showers for the hoards. One of the girls arrived with bags of bacon and bread for breakfasts and we now have 2 bottles of champagne from another 2 of the girls. Have given DD £60 to hopefully last the weekend for food and drink at the festival but that's not out my food budget. I also spent £200 on Rammstein tickets :eek:today so would love to make some of that back from not spending too much on groceries this month.
Grocery challenge October: £228.28/£250.00 NSD 4 ( not completed)
    Grocery challenge November : £291.65/300.00 NSD 10

noodles with some stir fried shredded veg & chicken, pasta (I found the twirly fusilli ones easist for them to grab), cheese cut into sticks or cubes, raisins, broccoli florets steamed, rice and something with a slight sauce to get it all to stick together (sweet and sour works well), omelettes cut into strips, couscous, pieces of chicken and anything, macaroni cheese

Anything 'normal' really just cut into chip shaped pieces for ease of grip or smaller pieces so they can just grab it in their fists.

Puds = fruit (banana, apple, pear, berries), yogurts, rice pudding, milk macaroni, trifle (messy but mine loved it), custard & stewed fruit/ bananas or small bit of cake.

Yikes just added up everything I have had to buy the past couple of days and to say I am horrified is an understatement :( Admittedly a couple of them were DD's I hadn't realised were due, plus I have to renew my pre payment certificate :( Oh and I was a naughty girl and ordered a couple of things on Amazon, but in my defence they were inks that I needed for my printer :D

Just updated my sig to take into account the £85.42 I spent :(

Also I noted that I wasn't on the list for my monthly total of £190.00 :(
