Money from Old Endowment???

Hi All,
I've been wandering around the Forum trying to find the right place to ask this but came back here as you lot know everything!
I MAY have an old mortgage endowment policy somewhere. I bought a flat in 1982 or 1983 and think it likely I was sold an endowment. I didn't have the flat for long and left in Jan 1986.
If I had a 25 year policy this would be due to mature in 2007/8.
Does anyone know if the payments I made would have been accumulating interest over the years?
I'm rather vague about the whole thing because, due to all sorts of awful things happening to me (I survived them all
) I don't have any documentation on this.
Anybody able to advise, please,or direct me to the right forum???

If you haven't already, I'd ask in the savings and investments forum, because you are more likely to find financial advisers posting there.
If you paid money in, I suppose that money must have been invested all this time (but a lot of the premiums in the early part of the policy probably went towards paying a commission to the adviser who sold you the policy, so there may not have been as much money paid in as you thought).
Have you got any idea of what company the policy was with? Without knowing that, there isn't much hope of getting anything at all.0
