Gosh I didn't say that 'legally' they can't stop you but in practice they never do because it would be such bad pr if they tried to stop you with every1 in the store watching!0 -

Sorry for being a bit thick but just why do the staff get annoyed about selling reduced price stuff like this?0 -

1. Because they are the last to get to know about it so they tend to miss out.
2. They dont like selling these low price goods to the public but prefer to donate to charity.
3. The managers usually get the stuff.0 -

just to let you know that company policy has changed and staff are no longer allowed to purchase anything at 99% which is a bummer cos there were great bargains to be had in the past. The stock has to be removed from sale and it is donated to charity shops.0 -

Sorry, but I find it extremely hard to believe that any chain would introduce such a bizarre system. Or have I misunderstood? Thanks to all who post constructively.
Have an A1 day!0 -

Each individual store waits until they notice a price has gone really cheap, then rush around grabbing it all and cart it off to a local charity shop

You have understood correctly. When I found out they where 30p another girl came rushing over to take them off the trolley. Only that I said I wanted all three of them she decided not to and told another girl that I wanted them all. She then said they dont go out at that price but go to a charity shop.
Thye where not stroppy or nothing.0 -
Hopefully soon they wont even reach the shops due to the cost of distribution, its just simply not worth us sending it to the stores0

moving this to Gone but was it any good as it seems to have become more of a discussion0

It is true that head office reducuce the things automatically but the shops do know as they receive notification of what is to be reduced in advance (reductions normally occur every Thursday) - However it is the stores who sometimes forget or presume that they have not got any stock left therefore they miss it and it normally only comes to light when a customer decides to buy some.
The reason that the staff immediately clear the shelf is that it is company policy to send to charity, however usually staff wont begrudge the customer the items because Wilkos is MASSIVE on customer satisfaction (they will often give refunds for items not even bought at Wilko just to keep the customer happy) and if any staff are stroppy about it tell them that you are unhappy and would like them to call headoffice - head office will nearly always do what the customer wants.
I have always found the Wilko staff to be lovely and very helpful.Total for 2009: L'Oreal Lip Duo, Diary, Motability Guide
Thanks to everyone who post comps - you are all :cool2:0 -

I assume you havent visited the Widnes and Warrington branches then. Some not so nice staff.
Especially when you tell them the price on the shelf or item is less than the till states. Or you have a moan because they leave the security tags on.0
