First Time Buyer advice

Hi,
My boyfriend and I are looking at getting a mortgage in a couple of years.
We have just started saving so dont have very much at the moment. Can anybody give us some advice on how much we are likely to be given based on a combined salary of about £53k and how much of a deposit we will need?
Obviously we will save as much as we possibly can, but at the moment we are living in a tiny flat and the sooner we can get out the better!
Im only 20 so I dont have much credit history, and have had DDs reversed quite a few times, but no huge credit problems, my boyfriends credit is near perfect.
Any tips for us?
