Applying for a next card

I just called into next directory and they said i have to have 6 statements in order for me to qualify for a next card, unfortunately i only have 2 statements and i really wanted that card to shop during the christmas sales, and also if i was to place a few seprate orders right now, i wouldnt be able to do that because they have just posted my customer number to me as I've lost it.

Are there any other ways to apply for a next card or is this a strict rule?

Cant really answer this, I have just applied for a Next account and to be honest just assumed that a card would be sent through in due course although to be honest this was something the guy didnt address when I opened the account on the phone and I couldnt be bothered to ask as it was very hard to understand the guy on the phone

I think this is standard practice. I opened an account last year and when I asked about a card was told the same thing - I think they monitor your account before they give you a card. I sem to remember it was about 4-6 months before one came. Sorry that doesn't help you for Xmas!
