MSE Mortgage Brokers et al...please can I have your suggestions?

I am finally coming around to the idea that the benefits of owning might outweigh my horror of the commitment so...
I'm looking at properties ripe for updating in the region of £80-90k, I have a £40k deposit.
I want Fixed rate, repayment, pref daily interest calculations, no excessive redemption period and portable in case my inner commitment-phobe gets the better of me and of course, the best rate too.
Where should I be looking?
TIA
Beth

Erm start with Google to get fair comparisons to see what is on offer, then progress to an FA if you feel unable to do the work yourself. I found and arranged our existing mortgage myself on the net, made the initial call and started the ball rolling myself.
Personally I would not use a FA as we both have good credit histories and an excellent LTV and we are now quite happily sitting on the deal below which is costing IF more than us...ORIGINAL MORTGAGE AMOUNT £106,454.00 (Started Sept 2007)
NOV 2021 O/S AMOUNT £1,694.41 OUR DEBT REDUCED BY £104,759.59 by std regular, over-payments & off-setting.
BofE +0.19% Tracker Repayment Offset Mortgage Discounted Sept 07-10 then increased to BofE +0.62% until 20270 -
Thanks for that Hillcats, I wasn't planning on using an FA but was thinking about a broker to save me some of the leg work.
Have more questions...
I note in the MSE beginner buying guide it recommends London & County but cannot find any up to date info on their WOM status.
Also are HSBC, ING Direct and First Direct still the only non-brokered offerings out there?0 -
Sorry, unable to recommend anyone as I truthfully don't know the answer for you.
Have a search though around Google and I'm sure you will find a deal to suit your needs, someone else will no doubt be along soon with some more info to help you make an informed decision. good luck with it.ORIGINAL MORTGAGE AMOUNT £106,454.00 (Started Sept 2007)
