That's not the way I read it. From your very helpful earlier post:
"any expansion of an installation within 12 months (of the same technology) will be treated as an increase in the capacity of the installation; if an expansion takes place more than one year after confirmation in the Central FITs Register, the expansion will be treated as a separate station - the original installation will be treated as having continued in the same class, while the new installation will be rated at the capacity of the aggregate of the two stations."
Doesn't "the new installation will be rated at the capacity of the aggregate of the two stations" mean, if the new system is registered by 31 March 2012 that the 37.8p rate will apply to it, because the aggregate, in your example, would be 6kWp?
You're correct, that's the way I understood it when I first looked into a system .... my mistake, time, memory, visitors and quick cut & paste without re-reading are my only excuse ....
Apologies for confusion ...

Thanks for the two replies about payment for a system by CC. I am still having difficulty finding another supplier besides Tescos who will permit payment by this means. Please can any of you suggest companies willing to accept payment by this means through the PM system of MSE?
I'm sure if anyone knew of any companies prepared to take card payments they'd have been quite happy to post a reply.
My guess is that it will only be the larger companies that are able to take card payments, and some of those will probably try to charge you a % (though I doubt they'd stick with that if they thought you'd go elsewhere). You could just pay a deposit of just over £100, though, as KevinG suggests, which will give you S75 protection.
Why not phone round a few and ask?0 -
I have already telephoned around at least 20 companies in our neck of the woods, not one takes credit card. I don't care about paying a percentage, however, a bit of negotiation often gets rid of this little extra.
I was not sure if company details could be given on this thread which is why I suggested PM.
To ask the question again, does anyone know of any solar panel company that takes credit card?
I had my system fitted by http://www.finesse-energy.co.uk paid by CC without extra charges3.995kWP SSW facing. Commissioned 7 July 2011. 24 degree pitch + Solar Immersion installed May 2013, after two Solar Immersion lasting just over the guarantee period replaced with Solic 200... no problems since0 -

Solar Plus takes credit cards but charges 1.7% except for the deposit. I wouldn't recommend them on price.2kWp Solar PV - 10*200W Kioto, SMA Sunny Boy 2000HF, SSE facing, some shading in winter, 37° pitch, installed Jun-2011, inverter replaced Sep-2017 AND Feb-2022.0 -
hi new to this forum, have had pv panels for over a year, YES they work and i live in N W Highlands, installed 10 ying li panels generating 2.35kw was lucky to get a 30% grant from energy saving trust and a 8 year interest free loan for the remainder on costs of 10K. panels have performed to expectations (apart from below par sunshine) figures from 31/12/2010 generated 1157 units, used ie bought in via meter 848 units, exported 873 units, yes have export meter fitted free from s&se, on current payback expect to achive 7.5-8.0% return on money, lot better than money in bank. am about to add futher 16 panels to system. In short i say go for it regards to ALL fred hughes:j:j
Interesting and encouraging post.
I am wondering if S & S E will give me a quote. I live in Aberdeen and my roof location/direction are spot on. I have space for maximum panels on a roof.
Is the 30% Energy Saving Trust Grant still available?
And the interest free loan?
Do they still fit/instal an export meter?
I'd be grateful for any replies.
Edit - just checked their website and I can arrange a survey.
I had a cold call from a company this morning and a guy is calling tonight. They sounded like a cowboy outfit so I thought I'd read up here before he arrives. I had no intention of buying tonight but wanted to hear the sales patter anyway.0 -
Hi all,
Although the PV calculators give a good guide, I thought I would share that many people with PV are posting real life very intelligible data which also includes UK information.

My system went live approx 10 days ago (~3.7Kwp in Dundee - East coast of Scotland) and I'm very happy with the results so far:

Hopefully this can allow some people on this thread to determine if solar PV is suitable for them based on real life setups.
Cheers,

.
Somebody posted that the grant(which was for Scotland only) has now stopped.
There was a grant in England as well, but that stopped shortly after FITs were announced. (about 2 years ago)0 -
...but you can get an interest free loan for up to £2000 payable back over 4 years from the Energy Saving Trust.
Cheers,

hi,if you send me a private message i can give you a name and contact number for a quote from s&se (i have no relationship with them just a satisfied customer), 30% grants have been withdrawn i think but some loans are still available from E S Trust give them a buzz. I got a import/export meter from s&se fitted FREE. Re large roof space remember if you go over 4Kw the FiT tarrif drops from 43.3 to 37.8 per kw generated. any other queeries will try to assist fred.:beer:0 -

Many thanks Fred. I may pm you in a couple of days. Area Sales Manager called tonight. The Company was Solar Energy Savings but the installers are PV Solar UK. Anyone know anything about either? Must do some Googling. Edit - found this https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/2363441
That's the last page but they all make interesting reading
Getting some figures tomorrow.
Can you please tell me Fred, what did your system cost to instal?0
