If you've got £10,00 to invest you're much better off investing it in shares of Scottish & Southern Energy.

But in SSE shares in 10 years your £10,000 should be worth a lot more than £10,000 and you can cash them in whenever you need to. And of course they pay dividends.

    .

Like those who invested in Eurotunnel , Eurodisney, BT etc etc you mean.

New system installed yesterday late afternoon just in time to measure the amount of light and check the generation was roughly what we expected and then see it shut down for the night.

Woke up to a dark damp gloomy morning. Display says:

Generation today = 0 Total Generation to date = 0

Anyone know where the Sunny Boy's 'Sun On' button is? :(

Day 2 - What a grey day! Running at about 100W (2.5% of peak).

Had problems with my Owl monitor attached to the export cable. The installer fitted the sender unit for me and I've been getting silly high readings.

I opened up the trunking last night and he'd doubled-up the cable into a loop through the sensor, so giving me double the reading!

  • Hi Orrery. Are you going to " have words " with your installer? I certainly would AND also make them re-check everything they did in case anything else is " installed " incorrectly! It shoudn't be up to you to correct their mistakes.:D

If it's of any use to you, mine's also a 4kWp system and it's currently producing around 250W.

Still grey, but obviously a brighter grey than it was when you were getting 100W - I'm guessing you'll be getting much the same as me now?

No, the electrical guys did an excellent job. I provided the Owl monitor and he took it off me to 'do a nice neat job' and loomed it all in with the trunking. He obviously didn't understand that a double pass through the sensor would double the measurement!

Yes, it peaked about 260 here, but dropped back to 100W again now! Still can't complain - I've generated 3kWh since install, so I'm £1.50 richer :(
