Bank Confusion

I brought a laptop from Ebuyer end of October, the charger for it broke after having it for a month. I managed to return it, and the refund was authorised on 13th December - last Wednesday.
My bank (hsbc - useless I know!) say its iwth Ebuyer, and Ebuyer are telling me the payments gone, hasn't been bounced back, nothing. I asked Ebuyer last week when the refund was authorised so that I knew when to look out for the money, as well as this I had received an email telling me also, so I know from their end it has definately gone.
I have been passed between the 2 today and I'm sick of waiting on the line, not knowing where I'm standing and wondering where the hell my money is (we're tlaking £450 here).
HSBC said something about raising a BACS request or something, for which I need the account details of Ebuyer, which unsurprisingly, they won't give me. I dont even know what a BACS thingie is and the foreign woman I spoke to on the phone wasn't helpful in explaining what it was.
So, I'm wondering what I can do about this? I'm confuised with what I can do, it seems that I have gone as far as I can go with both parties, although Ebuyer have said that if I provide proof of a bank statement, then they can see it hasn't gone through and that they can authorise another payment. I sent them a screen shot and asked them to hold fire for now incase there's anything we can do in the mean time.
So, please tell me what I can do?

are you able to visit your bank in person?....if so you should go and visit a 'personal banker' and get them to ring up ebuyer's accounts department in person with you in the room (go armed with the phone number and printed emails from ebuyer). They should be able to sort it out quickly between them. It will take an hour of your time but at least you'll be getting THEM to rectify their mistake.0

I really can't do it now until next week and I dont know the opening hours of banks next week.
I posted this on another thread and I was told there it was Ebuyers fault not the banks! I'm so confused! Boohoo0 -
