I know this isn't politically correct but, you might be better buying the preprepared veg in bags. Unopened they keep for about a week because the bags are flushed and filled with gas (usually Nitrogen or Argon).

Nothing says Christmas like a bit of Nitrogen! :rotfl:

Do you know what that does to the nutritional content?...

If you buy fresh veg from Fruit and veg shop it should last as it's not been stored for weeks!

I keep potatoes in a veg rack under the sink (dark & dry) I hang a string of onions in my utility room (cold and darkish, no direct sunlight anyway) I bought 2 bags of desiree and 2 bags of new potatoes a couple of weeks ago to avoid the rush and they are laid out in a cardboard box in the garage with newspaper layers keeping them apart and dark. It's pretty cold in there as there is no heating and the door lets in draughts round the edges.

I also bought 2 bags of the little posh carrots in Aldi and I have done the same with them. We buy fresh veg most weekends and it keeps for upto 10 days so buying Christmas veg a few days before will be fine.

The rest of our Christmas food will be collected tomorrow early as we are hoping to beat the rush!

If you buy your veg from the supermarket, 50% will be mouldy by the time you get home, and the rest will probably last until Easter and never ripen!
