Anyone rent there flat for short terms?

Hello

I posted a similar question on the House buy forum, but then thought that this forum is where the savy people are.

I am in the forces and spend alot of time away from my flat - and it usually sits empty whilst i am.

Does anyone know of a way to advertise your flat for short term rent. i.e a week here and there ect or for one of night - i.e people visiting area or on holiday.

I live quite close to london, so maybe olympics etc?

is this wise? anyone else done this?

any advice appreciated

As you would need to employ someone to clean it, arrange keys, actual lettings, deposits, possibly supply and launder bed linen etc; plus change your insurance cover and possibly mortgage, it may not make economic sense. Most "holiday" letting agencies want properties for at least 6 months and (no offence) usually have a high standard for the properties they take on.

The Oympics may give you a very short term opportunity.

  • there is some websties like gumtree on which you can post advitisement about your apartment. however you need to think the problemes lincroft1710 posted up first. Who can help you to arrange the rent and the key while you are away.

I agree with the others who have posted - if it's just for a week here and there, the liabilities probably far outweigh the potential benefits.
