Making the school holiday memorable.

My girls are aged 17, nearly 15 and 6. I want to build memories of things we did together. This is quite difficult with such a large age gap but I'm going to give it my best shot. The only things they all enjoy is cooking and art. Little one is into model making inspired by Disney Juniors Art Attack. Older ones are more into facebook.

I've asked my little girl (7) to write a list of 10 things that she wants to do with me over the school holidays, which we've stuck to the fridge and are going to tick when we've completed them!
Most of the stuff she's picked are on our doorstep - a day picking strawberries at the local fruit farm , a trip to the cinema, renting rowing boats at a local park, picnic at the beach, etc
Why not ask them to write their own wishlist and see what's achievable , take your camera along and spend a day at the end of the holidays making a little memory book0 -
Thanks Clrat25. I will ask them tomorrow. The simple things always go down the best. I love the idea of the memory book. I'll think I'll buy scrapbooks for them for pictures and momentos collected along the way.0

my 2 girls always write a list of places they want to go things they want to do then we go from there, they love the zoo which is always a must but mine are quite happy with the park, friends, forest, swimming, crafting cooking quite easy to please are mine. they know that it is expensive to keep going places, we always take drinks snacks and packed lunches and im always on look out for deals or offers for places and i have a summer savings pot for visits. we collect silly things from places weve been or things they have made, take lots of photos, mine like to keep diaries which is lovely to look back on with their scrapbooks:xmastree:Is loving life right now,yes I am a soppy fool who believes in the simple things in life :xmastree:0

When my children were younger every day trip we did I would try to buy a postcard and get them to write down their thoughts of the day out/what they enjoyed most etc when they were too young to write i would ask them and write it on the postcard for them.
unfortunately I didn't keep it up wish I had because I thought it would be nice for them to look back on when they were older.0 -
Maybe for a few weeks do whatever and collect things like receipts, tickets etc. Then nearer the end make a scrapbook of everything stuck together!New year, new comper here!

My DD is 8 and my DS 4. Last year I got my daughter to do a scrap book of things she did in the summer, which entailed getting leaflets, receipts, tickets and taking photos. She really enjoyed it and took it to school when she started again in September.Life is like a box of chocolates..........you always seem to pick the hard ones!0

When mine were slightly younger we used to play a sort of Diceman game. We'd go out in the car and every time we came to a major junction we'd flip a coin to decide whether to decide whether to go right or left. When we reached somewhere interesting we'd stop - and we all took turns to decide. We ended up miles from home and seeing places we'd never known about before. We'd take a picnic and have a spending budget too for snacks and drinks. It was lots of fun and they still remember doing this.somewhere between Heaven and Woolworth's0
