Self employed cleaner - can i also sub contract work?

Hello,
Can anyone help with a tax question? I currently work as a self-employed cleaner and have taken some extra cleaning work with a company. They have suggested that i can work as a sub contractor. So far, they haven't provided me with a contract and they have not asked to see my insurance certificate....I have asked the company to clarify my employment status for future tax purposes - they are unsure what i need from them!
Should I just ignore the sub contract role and declare the extra hours as a 2nd job? Or should I get the company to provide documentation to prove that I work as a sub contractor? If so, what will they need to provide and vice-versa? I don't need to provide much equipment and there is some flexibility of when I work.

It is up to you to supply them with a contract - specifically terms of business which any half decent self employed person would have. You are self employed so why would your customer need to supply you with anything? Why would they need to clarify your position? You have a business providing a cleaning service or so you say and they're asking if you'll provide that service to them.
What you're asking is basically like going to a hair dressers and them asking the customer if they can provide them with a contract so they can prove they supply a service. Its a farcical thing to suggest.0 -

Is the company which is suggesting you could be a sub-contractor a company which provides cleaning services. Thus they would be the contractor to supply the service to other companies and you would be the sub-contractor providing labour to them, the main contractor?
For tax purposes I believe you would just show them as your client, like any other client.0 -
Thanks Littlevoice. I'm working a few extra hours for another cleaning company and wasn't sure about the tax situation for sub-contracting work.0

Your work for the main contractor will be invoiced by you in the same way as you would invoice any other commercial client - invoice with number, date (VAT no if you are registered), value etc. Then the payment goes through your books as normal and tax paid on your profit.0
