Sweetie & Lollipop Trees

Hi All,

I am not at all crafty but would really like to make a Lollipop tree and an edible sweetie tree.

Could anyone advise me how?

I am thinking stick in an oasis ball, cemented into a pot and then stick the lollies in? Does that sound right?

But how would I do an edible sweetie tree?

Thanks in advance!

I put some oasis (covered with tinfoil) in a pot and then attached sweets to wooden skewers with some tissue paper or organza fabric around each sweet. Will try and link to a pic...

Baldrick, does it have to be this way? Our valued friendship ending with me cutting you up into strips and telling the prince that you walked over a very sharp cattle grid in an extremely heavy hat?

My idea would be instead of a glue gun (defeating in my mind the point of a sweetie tree which u couldnt actually eat!!!!!???) i would pipe blobs of icing onto the styrofoam ball and then stick the sweet into it.... then u can pull the sweetie off, and just discard the icing...?

It is the Haribo one on that link that has made me want to make one - it's lovely isn't it!

Exactly my thoughts, if you can't eat it then what is the point!!

I was wondering if a sugar paste would work? Or if there is some kind of cookery/cake making edible glue like substance?

Oohh they look brill, I think the icing used for gingerbread houses (I think it's Royal icing but not 100% sure) would be good to stick them on with, I think bigmomma has the right idea though.
I think if you totally cover the styrofoam ball, let it set completely, then stick the sweets on individually you would be ok, if you stuck the sweets straight on the ball you could end up with bits of the foam coming away.
    Booo!!!
