I love this show its just SO os isnt it! Medieval Xmas last night
A few things I really wanted to do
1. the smoker.
Does anyone have a home made Old style smoker?
If so Id love to hear your experiences with it.
2. the bird within a bird masterpiece
Has anyone done this? I thought it was magnificent. how on earth would I learn from scratch how to do this ( not for this year LOL!!!)
3. ginger biscuits made with breadcrumbs
how OS is this. I hate to say we often chuck end- loaves away as they go stale and we have zero freezer space much of the time. Has anyone got a recipe that would work for this? Or any other recipes using breadcrumbs in biscuits?
All your thoughts very welcome!!!

This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast

Hi Lynz, check out the River Cottage forums. I'm sure people there have tried the multibird roast.

I had a 3 bird roast (Royal Roast) on Saturday. It was a Goose stuffed with a chicken stuffed with a pheasant and was really delish! 13 of us ate it and there was a half slice left - but not for long.
We got it from Seldom Seen farm, as featured on Rick Stein's food heroes.
For smoking, I saw a programme about this on UK TV Food. Here's a link to the article. All you need is a wok or large pan and it's very easy.

I wouldn't smoke anything for 5 days! I'd do it sliced in batches.

Here's a recipe for smoking salmon. Unlike the first link I posted, this one uses
sugar!

Recipe for the Christmas flapjacks and medieval ginger biscuits is on Channel 4 site.
Agree it looked fab...perhaps HFW would like to invite me along as a tester for his recipes for Chrimbo 2007!!
