Hi there!
I'm going to try to make a Wilton Number 1 shaped cake for my daughters first birthday next week but i've no idea how to make a sponge that large! Any recipes I can use? The tin is 16"x11"x3".
Thank you!x

this makes enough for a 16 x 12...
400g salted butter, softened
400g caster sugar
8 medium eggs
400g self raising flour
a little veg oil to grease tin
Optional:
2 x Vanilla pods or
zest of 4 lemons or oranges or
Chocolate replace 100g of SR flour with 100g cocoa powder and 100g belgian choc (add when you mix butter and sugar)
1. Put oven on 200/ Gas 6
2. cream butter and sugar
3. New bowl, beat eggs lightly and gently add to butter and sugar mix
4. Slowly mix in flour
5. Grease mould and if possible line with greaseproof paper (optional)
6. Add to cake tin evenly
7. bake for 25 mins.
8. Allow to cool
Fill with buttercream and jam or what ever you fancy...
