I would suggest that you talk to T-mobile about dropping the charges as soon as possible, acknowledging the full amount of arrears to be paid. But by telling them up front there are financial difficulties gives them the heads up to drop their tariff and assist you. From their perspective, its better to get some money than none. The other reason for asking for the contract drop now, is you want the new tariff to apply ASAP. If you wait until July to ask you won't see the benefit until late august.
Also, i don't know if you have a freecycle/freegle near you, but if you can find it (google) try asking on there for an old mobile phone handset and get one for free, rather than paying. It might be a bit basic, but its a start.
Thanks.
You're spot on re the sooner, the better with T - Mobile, and asking them to drop the tariff.
I'll try them now, and if closed will try tomorrow / Monday morning.
As for asking for a free handset on Freegle, I'm not sure I'd be up for that. Would feel too cheeky!
Argos do a bog standard Samsung for £7.50, but the annoying thing is you have to buy £10 worth of T-Mob credit! (Which obviously I don't need, making the phone £17.50).
CeX, both in town and online, are asking for more money for their second hand phones, than it costs for a new basic one from Argos!
I've had a look on Ebay, but I don't think I'd trust Ebay for a phone!
Cheers :cool:0 -

I've bought a couple of phones on ebay - no problem.
Re freecycle - the whole point of it is people are looking to get rid of stuff that would otherwise go to landfill, so they'd rather it went to a person who would use it, rather than chucking it out. Its not cheeky at all. take a look at it before you shell out needlessly0 -
Sim, I'm going to PM you. I hope you dont mind. Mrs_R

Sim, please do ask on freecycle re the mobile. I've just advertised a motorola v500 to gift to someone who needs one on our local freecycle. Yes, not new but in full working order and as orangesmartie said, reason I did it was I wanted it to go to someone who could use it and not put more stuff in landfill. Give it a go. BTW glad you're still hanging in there. Good luck to you0

Thanks guys.
I've been offered a Nokia phone, by a very kind person on MSE, for which I'm more than grateful!
It's on T - Mobile, and so I'll be able to pop in my T - Mobile sim.
I've just called T - Mobile again, and asked them if they could downgrade my tariff.
Rep at T - mob said they couldn't yet, but will be able to after 4 bills - ie - on 24th July.
At first, she said that they can then drop me down by one tariff after my fourth bill.
I asked her how much it'll then be, and she said that the cheapest tariff T - Mobile do, is £15 per month.
When I asked her, if I'd be eligible for the £15 per month after 24th July, she said "I don't see why not".
I can't see them going straight down from £35, to £15 per month though. So, I'm expecting it to be more like £30, or at the most / least, £25 per month.
Anyway, it's great to know they'll at least drop my tariff by *something* at the end of July!
Cheers - Sim
