Strangest christmas freebie I think??????

Just come back from taking MIL and several of her friends to a funeral. As we arrived at the venue for the after funeral refreshments, I was handed a pen and a 2007 diary by the undertaker. I was speechless. It has his name and tele number on both. Spent the entire afternoon trying not to laugh as 50 or so pensions took down each others names and addresses and put them in these diaries.

Hubby and I run our own business and are inundated at this time of year with these kind of promotional freebies. Hubby often comes home with 2 or 3, were as if truth be told he would rather have a bottle of wine or a tin of biscuits. We send them all off to the charity shop, and then about Feburary OH moans because he never kept a dairy and now he needs one. Same every year. So I have wrapped my freebie from the undertaker for him and he can open it on Christmas Day.

I am still laughing at my gift honestly starting to think it must be some sort of "youve been framed" moment.

Anyone else ever had a free christmas gift!!!!!!!!!!!!

We were at out local hospital today and a man outside gave us a free months pass for our local trampoline / play centre. Fantastic you may think....my son is only just recovering from a broken bone. Truly dfw i've wrapped it as a gift for a neighbours child!

  • I work in sheltered housing for the elderly and every year the local undertaker hand delivers me a calendar, diary, huge desk blotter pad and a pen/memo block set.
Every year i give them away - not very welcoming for my tenants when they come into the office to talk to me given that the average age is around 80.

Years ago, my dad was always losing his comb, so for christmas we wrapped up loads of combs to give him, poor dad thought he was being lucky with so many pressies, and most of them were combs!!!! The funniest part tho, was (purely by chance) when he pulled his xmas cracker, his gift was ................ a comb!!!!!!

We have a Christmas Fair for charity here with sideshows, stalls and all the shops opening late, etc. One year the undertakers were welcoming people in for mince pies and mulled wine! It was very kindly meant but I just couldn't fancy it, somehow!

My strangest freebie so far has been a calendar!

Not just your ordinary wall calendar - this monster was delivered by courier, and comprised of a 3 foot (yes all 36 inches of it!) by 4 inch metal girder like effort, with two "nails" at the top, from which hung a long narrow calendar about an inch smaller all round than the "girder".

Bearing in mind I've never bought anything from the company that sent it, nor am I ever likely to (we just don't use what they sell) it struck me as a total waste of a lot of money (and planetary resources!). Still I managed to palm it off onto a colleague with bad eyesight who was really chuffed as he could see it across the room!

Not a Christmas freebie but I've also had a 12inch high punchball on a sprung base sent to me as a marketing gimmick for a computer system. It gets given a name for the day of whoever is getting on my nerves most!

I have one of those weird punchball/stress ball things on a sprung base too! Mine was sent from a mortgage packager though ;)

I haven't had any weird corporate gifts but I did get a tin of celebrations today :D
