Intel Core Duo Laptop

My daughter is after a laptop for GCSE's. Looking to spend around £500. Does this look a good deal for £515.83 (without Windows)?

Looks to be pretty good for they should really include windows xp/vista for you.

I know people who have bought stuff from Novatech in the past and found them to be good.
Looking to raise some money ;)
  • Thanks Shawz

I'm not too bothered about paying extra for pre-installed windows. If system restore doesn't work and I have to wipe the hard drive its no good if I haven't got a copy on disc.

Seems to be the best I have found in this range. I was looking at TOSHIBA A100-147 http://www.currys.co.uk/product.php?sku=058358 until currys put the price up by £100  for Xmas  The Novatech has got a much better spec as far as I can see.

    No probs.

I think the Toshiba is a higher price as it has windows media centre edition bundled with it, but at that price its not worth it.
Looking to raise some money ;)
  • Just noticed Novatech give 2% through Quidco so it is looking even better. Only a tenner but it is better off in my pocket than theirs

  • Just been seen some of the previous comments - they read as if they are all from empoyees of Novatech!!!
Just beware, I had a bad experience - purchased a batch of cartridges and they are absolute rubbish and 10% smaller than from other suppliers. After 5 Emails and 2 letters (one to the MD) they don't want to know. Their aftersales service is deplorable.
    You have been warned.

Sorry to hear that you have had a bad experience of Novatech but they have got a good reputation and no I don't work for them.

Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker
My GF got a Novatech for work as its the only brand they buy.
I took one look at it and told her to give it back and refuse to accept a Novatech laptop.
It has such bad screen flicker that it induced a migraine every time she used. So bad in fact that she was physically ill and incapable of moving and incapacitaded for days.
I've been in IT for over 10 years and never, ever seen something as bad as that.
They refused to take it back and she has since told them that she will not use it on Health and Safety grounds. So now it sits in limbo as an unusable and unreturnable doorstop. Not bad for £600 odd.
Considering she could get a comparable Acer from Comet for the same money I wouldn't touch them.
