Might be a silly question but can you turn the mobile data off?

I've got the vivaz, simply for the camera really and I don't fancy getting stung for using data when I don't want to be.

thankyou for the info. do you use internet out of the home?

You sound like me in that you are slightly befuddled as to how the whole thing works.

I guess we'll both wonder what all our concerns were once we join the smartphone gang.

Thanks for the app tip MerryMary - first one I shall download I think :)

not familiar with vivaz but am pretty sure you can.

did my research on andoid phones only feb this year so am still learning :o my son love the apps and games you can download for free. one problem am having is call breaking up :(

hmc, there must be an easier way of transfering your contacts than doing it one at a time. hopefully someone more knowledgeable will advise :)

I'm in 2 minds because I don't really understand phones, and don't want to get stung with a big bill if I get this phone for my teenager, but it seems too good a deal to pass up. I pay a fiver for his contract anyway.

How trustworthy is your teenager Jellyhead? And what do you currently pay £5pm for?

If you told him it was 100 mins and unlimited texts, would he keep within the 100 mins?

If you told him he could look on Facebook once a day, would he stick to that? Or would the mins and texts still be a better deal than the current contract if he didn't even know about t'internet?

Remember the Sony phone is 100 mins, 100 texts and either unlimted texts OR 500mb internet. The apollo is 100 mins, 100 texts, 500mb internet AND unlimted texts or another flexible booster of your choice.

You know your lad best Jelly. Would it work for him and stay cheap for you?

I've checked and he has never used his 100 minutes on his current contract, so yes as long as he has unlimited texts I trust him to stick to it. I've just had a look, and if they use up the data allowance you don't get charged - they just stop it for the rest of that month.

2 years is a long time though, which is why I hesitated - he might start to want more minutes in future. I think it's still a good deal though, seeing as I can't get headphones for his current phone, and the screen is cracked, and he would like to have text messages kept as conversations rather than individual messages.

I assume this would do everything my wildfire does .. I did promise him that if i got him a rubbish phone I would swap with him! yikes!

I don't know what your wildfire does, but I think it's worth it. The apollo has got pretty good reviews.

Why not let him read the reviews and decide? And I'm pretty sure if the minute usage goes up over the next 2 years, it won't be dramatic and it'd probably still be cheaper to pay for the extra minutes on top of £4.38. Or introduce him to Skype!

Bear in mind the internet allowance of 500mb on the apollo is only a cap on streaming video and file uploads and downloads
you can browse and email as much as you like.
Makes this an even better deal IMO.

    from the tmobile site

    Is there an allowance?
You can browse and email as much as you want.
There is a 500MB allowance for streaming videos and uploading and downloading files. If you hit this limit during the month, you won't be able to do this stuff again until the next month.
