Credit Clean MBNA

Morning All

I was AD in November 2010. I have been doing the credit clean up (this is hard work!!!!).

MBNA updated my file on Experian to "settled" last month. I received the must discussed letter from Eversheds a couple of weeks ago saying they had bought my "debt" from MBNA.

I have just had an alert from Experian saying there had been a change to my account.

My MBNA file is still showing as MBNA however yesterday it was changed make to "Defaulted".

Anybody know why this has happened and what I need to do next.

Thanks in advance.

Try emailing Experian and asking them what is going on, I have emailed them on a couple of occasions and found them to be quite efficient.

What do you mean by that?

The account should be marked as defaulted.

Sorry, had a bit of a Grey moment. It is actually Equifax. My account has been changed from Settled to Blank.

Amazingly my Experian files are all bang up to date.

This whole MBNA/Eversheds thing is just annoying. Surely it can't be THAT difficult for them to differentiate between those who are just not paying and those who are BR. As Fermi said it should still have a default date (no later than your BR court date), but it should have zero balance and hopefully the 'status' which can also be marked as defaulted should be marked as settled. Is this whats revered back to defaulted? Look at your file again to check .

I'm still a bit peeved as now MBNA is my only debt that I haven't 'cleaned up' and I'm annoyed because it was offloaded to Eversheds/Max Recovery just around the time I sent them the template clean up letter (just bad timing I suspect) and now from the conversation I had with a lady at Max Recovery it seems they will revert it back to MBNA as she claimed as a discharged BR they shouldn't have bought it off MBNA (or something along that lines), which of course now means that I have to wait for it to revert back to MBNA and then write to them again to ask them to mark it appropriately.

I would ring Max Recovery/Eversheds (number on the letter) and see what they say. You may have to send them something to confirm your are BR and discharged. Hopefully they won't revert it back to MBNA and have to go through the whole clean up process again.

One final comment .. its worrying that even after marking your account as settled, it was still sold on. Clearly they are morons!

Interesting about MBNA. I wrote to them back in March with my BR Certificate and Notifcation of discharge. They wrote back to me saying "we are investigating your complaint and will get back to you within 28 days". My letter wasn't a complaint but a request for my credit file to be updated. I thought nothing of it, they also sent this letter to my previous address despite me informing them I had changed address.

A month later another letter saying it was taking longer to "investigating my complaint". Again this letter was sent to my previos address. I then received another letter saying my complaint was still being investigated and they would be back to me by the 6 June, again to my old address.

On June 8 I recieved a letter, to my correct address, saying they would update my file. The following day I received the Eversheds letter informing me they I bought the debt.

This has lead me to thinking MBNA were stalling in order for them to sell the debt or is this just a little paranoid of me??

Possibly but I like to think they are just incompetent. Wouldn't surprise me if they had a problem sorting your 'complaint' because it perhaps wasn't showing up properly on their systems as it was in the process of being transfered. I guess selfishly perhaps its a good thing mine got transfered to Max Recovery/Eversheds now as it seems clear that had I done the clean up a month ago it wouldn't have made a darn bit of difference. However, hopefully, if they throw the account back to MBNA then hopefully they won't be dumb enough to sell it on a 2nd time .. although I wouldn't bet on it! :D
