Is Tesco accepting manufacturers vouchers these days? (things you don't buy)

There used to be a thread about vouchers but I can not find it (don't have internet at home so computer time always rushed!)
When on holiday last week couple from somewhere in the West country said that their branch of Tesco recently had started to accept manufacturers coupons even when you didn't purchase the product. I asked in Stevenage branch when driving home up A1 but they said it was news to them, but they would check (not just then!)
Has anyone managed to use a voucher this way recently? At one time most supermarkets did it!
Being polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!

Try this thread, it has all the information you need. Supermarkets will only accept coupons for items you have purchased now. Some will limit the number you use, but you must have bought the product. HTH.

When I was in Tesco yesterday I noticed a sign on the checkout saying that they are happy to accept vouchers but only if you have purchased the item.

It depends on the staff. Generally you need to buy the product but I have found that some staff, esp if you use self-scan will let through most coupons. But don't be easy with them. I usually put two through and don't try anymore or else they say no to all of them. Saying that though, tonight I got through several coupons for products I hadn't bought simply because I had an high spend shop (for me anyhow) of over £80.
