What has happened to my Asda Smartprice stuff?

Feeling a little annoyed tonight , was starting my shopping list for my big end of month/ pay day Asda online shop and noticed that some of the smartprice stuff I usually get has 'mysteriously' disappeared . I buy the roll on as a back up for end of month when my 'nicer' stuff is finished, shaving foam and shower gel (to put in my handwash bottles as it's cheaper!
) and all 3 three things I can no longer buy. They just don't exist anymore
Well, Asda, I will NOT pay more for the same stuff - will be paying Mr S a visit tomorrow as they still sell that stuff in their basic range (well at least for now they do!:j)

I noticed this online today as well. I wanted to put smart price bubble bath and baby wipes in my online shop (only the best for my son ;-) Safe to say I didn't complete the order, if I can't buy all the items I need then what is the point.0

asdas stuff has been disappearing for months
i only shop online, and because so many of them have gone (i DID think it was only online though as i am never in store) i changed to tesco, HATE them with a passion and quickly changed to sainsburys
none of the lateness of asda
none of the items out of stock/short dates/subs like tesco
and all their basics items have been great so far, brilliant service, long dates on fresh produce and the few subs have been brilliant, and thei rdrivers are very nice0 -
In a nutshell;
The sales of smartprice/Value /Basics call them what you like are far higher than than the stores expected.
The high sales of the cheaper brands are meaning that the branded products are not being picked up and that is where the problems start. To sell one pack of Andrex toilet rolls or even own brand would make the stores a bigger % of Profit than selling 10 packs of value similar items
So it is kind of back firing on them regarding marketing.
On Fresh produce the demand has been such that at times there was no difference between the value packs and the class 1 produce.
Suppliers have many many more new markets to sell to now days, massive Eastern European demand, Russia, Middle Eest and Asia are all wanting fresh produce ffrom what were normally Northern Europe's traditional supply sources.
Get used to it is all I can say !"Man invented language to satisfy his deep need to complain."

I read in a Sunday newspaper that Tescos are introducing new brands (not cheap ones) that appear not to be a Tesco's own brand, probably find Tescos in the small print.
Their latest marketing ploy.0 -
I have noticed this (online not in store) and think its because they have to substitute the items if they are out of stock? So Baby wipes are often out of stock in store so if you were to order online they would be forced to upgrade you. I think this is the case with quite a few of the basics lines.....0

I thought it might be something to so with the substitution situation, I shop in store as well and I know they stock the products but more often than not the more popular smart price items like the 16p baby wipes are out of stock. I guess they would be losing quite a lot if each person ordered a large amount of the cheap item but there were none in stock, the next product up in a considerable price jump. Ah well, I managed to get a pile of wipes from sainsburys today for 9p each!0

Bargain! My local Sainsburys is often out of stock of those..... I buy them up when I can - they are really good!!!0

I've found the same issue in person when shopping at our local Tesco (though admittedly it's a Tesco Metro) - the staples that used to be available as value just arent there anymore - stuff like the pasta - the nearest alternative being 3 times the priceOn the up
