Website says it can be mixed with water at any temperature.

    Taste could be explained by:
    "Ingredients:
Modified cornstarch, maltodextrin, salt, sugar, soybean or canola oil, onion powder, refiners’ syrup, blackstrap molasses, garlic powder, hydrogenated soybean oil, corn syrup solids, white vinegar, tamarind, hydrolyzed soy protein, corn protein and wheat protein, autolyzed yeast extract, disodium guanylate, disodium inosinate, natural flavour, cellulose gum, caramel colour, spices, sulphites"

Many thanks for all your responses. My other point was I didnt know what was in it or what flavour it was either as there was absolutely nothing on the packaging. I have given up on it now after spending a frenzied afternoon and have had some communication with Approved Foods. They have refunded me the cost and it does not seem to be on the website now. Either it has sold out ? or they have removed it. I did order other stuff that was good quality and in date like Christmas Puddings, individual pots of jellies and a box of festive shortbread that made my son's day as he loves that and usually only has a box for christmas. So Im undecided about whether I will use Approved foods again bit have learnt a lesson in how much things weigh - Given I was a midwife you would think I have the measure of KG but always worked in pounds and ounces!!!
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

  • Hi all. I also bought this gravy mix from approved foods and I also didnt realise how much 6.5kgs was! I managed to find the email for Dr Oetker customer services and they have been very helpful. They sent me this within 24 hours of my email to them so I hope it helps everyone who bought this stuff as we all have a hell of a lot of gravy to get through!

Please see below make up instructions for Gravy Mix as requested.

    Make Up and Mixing Instructions

43g mix to 1 pint water
75g mix to 1 litre water
12oz mix to 1 gallon water
375g mix to 5 litres water

Blend gravy mix with sufficient cold water to form a smooth paste. Bring the rest of the water to the boil. Gently whisk paste into boiling water. Bring to the boil, stirring continuously until gravy thickens.
    DO NOT OVERCOOK

    :)

Wouldnt it have been wise to check what it was before you bought it?

Probably but then again you live and learn:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Many thanks for the instructions. You are a better person than me - I just gave up but Approved Foods very kindly refunded me. I am still doing battle with the strawberry and chocolate blamange, but I love the stuff and it came with instructions on the packet xx

Please don't give up on AP. You just need to get as much info as poss about products you are not sure of before you order. Dan is very good when someone has a genuine concern over a product.
As you have now had a refund, you may consider giving some of it away. It looks like it'll take you quite a while to get through that lot!!!

I used Approved Foods on the recommendation of my online and real life friend Mooloo. I did give a lot of my AF order away but the gravy was a no go and so was dumped in the bin. However I am currently working my way through the Blamange and in discussions with my therapist regarding my latest habit:eek::eek::eek:
