CreditExpert increases to £14.99

Can anybody tell me when CreditExpert membership increased from £6.99 a month to £14.99 a month? I signed in today because I wanted to reactivate my membership for a while, and I was presented with a message saying that renewal is £14.99 a month

This seems to include some identity fraud insurance that I don't want - but I can't see a way to just have a "basic" membership that doesn't include this.

Can anybody advise? Or should I just sign up with one of the rival credit checking agencies?

Its been £14.99 for around 6-7months I think (from memory) for new customers or reactivations. You can get a free score with it that you used to have to buy extra. Problem is so many people realised it was a complete waste of money to buy the score that they decided to do rocket the price and include it for 'free'.

I'd just go for buying the statutory file for £2 every so often, definitely the cheapest option.

or you may be able to buy it through your membership using your old password (I'm not sure as I haven't tried for a while)

Shop around, dont be thinking Experian or Equifax are the only companies that provide credit reports or ID theft

There are 3 credit reference agencies in the UK; Experian, Equifax and Callcredit.

Any other firms are just reusing the data from those sites. Best to get the info from the horse's mouth as it were and contact those 3 official CRAs direct not a third party.

All of the 3 will hold slightly different info about your credit history and to get a full picture you would really need to get statutory reports from all 3 of the agencies.

If you are not getting all 3 then Experian is the most used, followed closely by Equifax, with Callcredit being the least used by lenders.

£14.99 to look at data that barely changes from month to month? these people have a licence to print money.

  • Hi,

I called to cancel my free trial today on the phone number listed on the front page of your report when you log in - 0844 335 0550 Option 3. As i expected they convinced me to stay but they offered my a further 12 months for free and after that my subscription will only be £2.99 per month!! I have set a reminder in my calender to cancel in 1 year but at least for now I can see my credit report for a year for free!!
