I've got a job interview tommorow which is through the local council.
I did my GCSEs in 2001 and I can't find the certificates. Would I be able to get away with it?0 -

That is VERY enterprising! I am sure it would never have occurred to me to do this! Mind you I don't know which paper my results would ever have been printed in, if any ... wasn't aware they did it in my day, anyway!
Good luck with the job-hunting. With that kind of initiative, you deserve to succeed!
Sorry in being so late in replying.
Thanks for your reply I did use my initiative I applied for a job 3 months before I was being made redundant against the advice of people at work who said it was far too early and guess what I got the job
.
Eight months and several in house courses later still doing the same job.
Gave same advice to my brother who was being made redundant at a different company he has got a job straight away as well.
So if you are being made redundant seize the initiative apply for jobs asap after c.v. is sorted even if you do not get a job straight away its a good experience.
The company I now work for showed no interest in my school exam results.0 -
I'd have thought you'd be OK for the interview, just explain that you haven't been able to put your hands on the certificates immediately, then if they're adamant you have to produce them you can look into getting them.BlueNose1984 wrote: »I've got a job interview tommorow which is through the local council.

I know when I was your age (assuming you took your GCSEs at 16!) all my certificates were in a biscuit tin at my parents' house.
BTW, DS2 did eventually get to talk to the Exams Officer at his school, and they got his certificates re-sent. I hope he's put them in a safe place, because he certainly didn't give them to me! :rotfl:Hopefully he will have learned his lesson and will go down to school after he's left to pick his A2 certificates up. Because even if he wrote a letter authorising DS3 to collect on his behalf, that's one thing which DEFINITELY wouldn't happen!Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
I didnt need the certificates today at the interview and it seems if I do get the job I will only need my referees and a CRB check. Phew.0

I must be the only organised one here, regarding GCSE certs that is.
I still have them in my record of acheivement folder, in the original envelope! This was, um, let me see, 16 years ago.... wow. I was organised. Bless me.
I had so much hope....
Isn't there a data base system within the schools that hold the exam results per student? I realise that this may not go back that far, but for more recent years wouldn't this be the case?
And if not, then I am very suprised with all the technology going on.
REsults in local newspapers?? My dear lawd- DPA act would never allow such a thing these days ay? Indeed , well done as SAv sue says, for the initative!0
