It's all relative.
If petrol was 50p a litre. We'd all have nice big engined cars, like the yanks did.0 -

The government is quite welcome to tax big engined cars through the roof. If you drive some absurd 4x4 around Chertsey in order to transport one small boy called Tristran to and from day school before you spend the rest of the day driving around and around and around looking for a space before eventually double parking outside Starbucks, you can probably afford it.
And if gas guzzling Yummymummies are actually gouged enough to maybe buy a smaller greener car to do this trip then all the better.
For those of us who have normal cars, with normal sized gas tanks that we have to use for our normal journeys it seems a bit unfair to have to absorb wildly fluctuating oil prices, where you never benefit from the down swing because if prices to drop they just pile more duty on to fill up the trough.
If gas prices went down 30% I personally would not drive 30% more. It wouldnt give me any more time in the day to do pointless journeys, I would just have a bit more money for once.0 -

Why strike... if you dont like it, move on, give someone else a chance to have a go on the money you was earning, the benefits you were accruing, working conditions you were enjoying.
See if the grass is greener on the otherside before you start complaining.
Lets compare pensions, or maybe swap.
If you want the benefits then expect them to cost someone other than ME or my fellow private sector workers, who already have the rough end of the stick.
My company closed its final salary scheme to new entrants and I can assure you it costs nearly 50% of their salary at the moment to fund it as necessary.Plan
