Tesco Meal Deal?

Hello all,

I have somehow been nominated to get lunch for a activity day I am going on. There are 13 of us and we are going to be doing bike riding, zorbing, achery and the like so the lunch i provide will have to be substaintial and be alright out of the fridge for several hours before eating.

I was thinking for the ease factor just getting Tesco's lunch meal deal's - £2.50 for a sandwich (or pasta pot), crisps and a drink. then getting a couple bags of apples and banana, chocolate bars and a cake and big bottles of water Do you think the meal deal is worth it or should i just buy the sandwiches and then multipack buy the crisps, drinks and chocolates.

Which do you think would be most money saving? I know that not everyone will want the same flavour sandwiches so buying a loaf or bread and cheese wont work... Also do you think that the food i mention is enough for 26 year old lads exersizing?

Thanks everyone!!
I'm living so far beyond my income that we may almost be said to be living apart.

I think it would be best for variety, and you'l get more in the drink (assuming its 500ml bottles) rather than buying multi packs of say 330ml cans, same with crisps, individual bags are always larger than the multi packs. If everyone had to pay say £3 I'm sure you'd be able to get some packs of apples, bananas to go along with it :)

I dont think one sandwich etc would be enough for grown men for several hours normally, let alone doing all that activity etc men need 2000+ calories on a normal day, hope this helps and hope you enjoy your day out

Personally, I'd do things separately....Either make up a few simple sandwiches yourself for people to choose from, or buy a selection of sandwiches. Then buy a few big bags, or a couple of multipacks, of crisps, then a couple of 2 litre bottles of cheap coke and lemonade and a bottle of squash (this is where you'll save money!). Add some pork pies, sausage rolls and a couple of bits of fruit and you've got a decent lunch for a growing lad :)

if you get the meal deals from sainsburys then get pepsi as its on bogof and you get2 per meal deal
  • Or just tell em to bring their own? It isn't hard to do and means they can't complain.

I know I'd rather bring my own then have someone else pick my food.

we bought the big sarnie platters from morrisons for our picnic last week, it had a good variety, you could have rolls or sliced bread £6 per platter and they were really nice
