kids cake mix - use by sept 2006

Must have bought this a long while ago - took it out to make these spiderman cakes with my son, and the use by date is 2006 - is it still ok to use do you think or should I just toss it out?

I'd use it, I have used these before a little out of date and they have been fine.

    I'd use it.

The shelf life for these things must be fairly long so I would have thought that a few months wouldn't make any difference at all. Actually I'd probably still use it if it was a year out of date, I mean it's mainly flour isn't it?

  • I'd not buy it in the first place! sorry aracnophobe in houseful of girls here

but if I had, I'd use it that out of date - as long as it's not obviously jumping when you open the packet (thinking of flour weevils - you'll see them if present!)

I'd use it, but add a teaspoon of baking powder to make sure it rises.
