Rock bottom bargains at Focus DIY

MORE than 3,300 jobs will go to the wall in two months' time as FOCUS DIY disappears from the high street.
Administrators yesterday confirmed there was "no future" for the DIY chain after 24 years in the trade.
The move by ERNST & YOUNG will also leave 10,000 customers - such as people who have ordered kitchens - plus hundreds of suppliers out of pocket.
E&Y partner Simon Allport told Sun City: "We've been through a very exhaustive process of marketing the business and its component parts for sale.
"There isn't anybody able or willing or prepared to buy it as a going concern. So Focus doesn't have a future as a retail business."
E&Y will hand all 178 stores to a liquidator to run a closing down sale over the coming weeks.

Big shame about the job losses.

BUT A CLOSING DOWN SALE MEANS BARGAINS GALORE IN-STORE!

I always find it a bit crass that people are revelling in the 'bargains to be had' when all those people are losing their jobs and other customers are facing a fight to get them money back on stuff they have paid out for (and there are some of them on here).

I thought they have already had a closing down sale before they closed down? Confused.

Its simply two sides of the same coin though, isn't it?
No one is revelling in people losing jobs/customers out of pocket. ;)

isn't this old news? There's already a huge thread on it.

The people at our store will be keeping their jobs when it is a wickes, but they are the ones that have reserved everything for when it goes down to silly prices....

Of course we are all sad for the loss of jobs, a friend of mine has been made redundant, but this is the Grabbit board, and not the "lets all feel guilty for getting a bargain board!"
