Hi All

Hope someone can give me some advise or point me in the right direction.

My wife has always wanted to own and run her own cafe and there is potentially a business unit on a local industrial estate which she believes could be a good prospect.

Has anyone ever gone down this road of running there own cafe or can offer advise on best place to secure a business loan (obviously look at banks and building societies), hire kitchen equipment, vending machine etc.?

Thanks in advance for any help or advice. :)

Work in the trade, so can give some info. Kitchen equipment, we buy rather then renting. Find out about auctions etc in your area. We have got second hand / bankrupt stock many times at good prices.
What kind of vending machine are you referring to?

The first thing you need to do is research the estate itself. How many people work nearby? What do they currently do at lunchtime? What comeptition do you have locally? Many people only have a 30 min lunch break - are you going to offer a delivery service? Local businesses can phone an order through to be delivered at x time, for example.
Still looking for the plot...... Anyone seen it???

I think the best piece of advise would be to work in one nearby first. Gives you an idea of where they are going wrong what they are doing right and how much they are making.

    Thanks for the replies.

We would be looking at a hot drinks vending machine and perhaps a snack machine as the reception of the industrial unit always seems busy with people coming and going.

Any views as to a good leasing company? We would be looking at a short lease initally.

The other half is looking at trying to fit in working at a local cafe just to get some ideas
