You should discuss this with your dentist beforehand.
They will not 'put you to sleep', as that has too many risks associated with it for such a routine thing as a filling.
Some practices do have sedation facilities, which can involve 'gas' although only enough to relax you. The costs and implications of that would have all been talked through with you beforehand.
Just relax, and you'll be fine I'm sure. How to find a dentist.
1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.0
