I worked for a company years ago (from 1980 - 1991) and when they finally went into receivership, it turned out that they hadn't paid anything into the pension scheme for the last two years.

The pension company (the Guardian Royal Exchange) didn't alert the employees that although 5% was being deducted from our salary, it wasn't being paid into the scheme and it ended up taking nearly seven years to be sorted out by the administrators. In the end, the 12 years I paid into the pension bought me a measly 23 months in my new scheme with my new employer.

I'd be following this up tout suite if I had a sniff it might be happening again.

So - what you mean is... I posted a problem that will probably get sorted out because really, the terms of the contract are clear and someone has just screwed up again, but I really hate working for this employer and I don't think they have my best interests at heart, and gong forward this probably isn't the place I should be working but I can think of a million and one reasons to do nothing about it.

Does that about sum it up? If so - you know what to do, don't you?

Now I know you are a great help to many people on this forum, but on another post you said you stopped posting on here as much basically because of nasty comments and people doubting that other posters were being truthfull....

so being rude as in your above post is some what double standards dont you think.

if i have taken it the wrong way on behalf of the OP i offer my most profuse appologies

One day some company will do what they say they will do and charge a fair charge.:T

Not doing the opposite of that which they promise and charge you a fortune for the privileged. :(

    Or maybe not:mad:

You have quite certainly taken it the wrong way. I was making a synopsis of what the OP actually meant. They knew that the problem they posted about was getting dealt with by HR and we told them they needed to let HR sort it - there was nothing to do about it. They then came back with a whole load of complaints which, as I stated, were very valid reasons for not liking your employer and maybe thinking that you shouldn't be working there - and then reasons why they hadn't left their employer. I was simply pointing out that this is what the OP had done - and that on that basis they had answered the question that they hadn't asked overtly, but clearly were asking.... "Why am I still working here?"

I don't think that's what SarEl meant at all! I think she was simply summarising that the OP really doesn't like being there, and the pension issue is just one symptom of it (one which no-one can answer on here anyway). So why still stay (which is what the OP was implying anyway!).

I think it was meant as a "you know you hate working there...so you've answered your own thoughts about going, and the pension thing has just consolidated it!"

I could be wrong, but that's how I took it! :D

Have the pension payments been appearing on your pay slip?

Oh and for the sake of those around you, get everyone else to check on theirs too!!!
It's not unknown for management/directors of companies to "skim" off the pension payments of their employee's.... By the time anyone finds out, they're long gone enjoying their own early retirement on a £3 million yacht in the Bahamas.

I know people think I am being petty about this.

Got paid today- yay BUT they didn't pay me my £900 bonus this month. 1 in every 10 of our mortgages written gets checked to make sure we have given correct advice, justified recommendations etc. Once 20 have been checked then if 90% are passed we get £900, if 100% passed we get £1,000 bonus under 90% then zilch. My 20th was checked on 10th May (taken 18months to get to the 20) and 19 passed first time so should have got £900 bonus paid today. Wasn't paid it. As got married last month and had 3 weeks on honeymoon my credit card has been hit badly and needed this to pay off the credit card. Now really annoyed - they are either useless or deliberately not paying what they should

regarding the payrise in Jan they didn't pay that till March and I had to fight for it.

With the pension I have been told it 'may' be backdated.

My expenses were also paid to another member of staff with the same name as me but at the opposite end of the country for a 2 month period.

Do people now think I have a right to be peed off? This is a company with 1300 offices

You are all correct - I don't like working there but do like my manager who has helped me a lot and would feel guilty going now while they have no staff. Also a lot of people are in my industry are being made redundant as the market is rubbish and with 8 years under my belt and therefore repeat custom keeping me employed and going I don't feel leaving is the best thing to do. Also planning on having a family next year so again don't think leaving would put me in the best position even though our maternity pay is rubbish.

Guess just having a rant as they are annoying me but with the market as it is I don't think leaving would be a good idea as I would be making myself vulnerable and would lose my existing client bank.

I think you have every right to be peed off - but I don't know why you say 'now', as if everyone thinks you're being petty. No-one's said or implied that at all.

What I was saying was that they may be crap at admin, but you asked whether you deserve compensation (and I maintain no, you've lost nothing so you can't claim anything) and what you can do about it.

With regards to the latter, you've already said HR are checking it out, so no-one else can give you any more info until you find out what's happened. How is that implying you're petty or disagreeing with you that it's annoying?

It is annoying, but no-one on here can offer advice with what you need until HR have an answer for you re the pension.
