So it looks like lovefilm charged me for my free trial!

Can anyone help with this.

Will an email to lovefilm.com fix this?

I signed up to the free trial which was so many days, cant remember now or 7 DVD's whichever comes first. My next payment date was on the 22nd December, but now money is coming out of my account and my next payment date is in January.

I have canceled my account to see if it makes any changes.

Did I do something wrong, or did I miss somthing somewhere.

Thanks

ajo

Are you sure they had received the dvd back before you cancelled,or did you change the ordering conditions at all once you had joined ie change number of dvds you wanted at any one time?

There are some other threads on here about this,i think you may find the answer there
  • Exactly the same happened to me, and I emailed them with no joy.

The DVD's were actually in the post back to them when I cancelled, but they weren't interested in a "goodwill gesture" of any sort. I was kicking myself for not cancelling earlier.

    Best of luck with them!

  • Hi

I had a similar experience with a 30day free trial with whsmiths. But they were really good and gave me 5 extra days to send the dvds back ater i emailed them, and they then sent me a free 3 month trial to give to a friend!

I managed to have the free trial and cancel without them charging me but I'm sure many others are in a similar postion to yourself. They do have to have all the dvds back about 5 days before the 1st payment date (that's when they request the money from your bank). The other thing to be careful of is if they have charged you and you can't get your money back make sure you make full just of the DVDs before you cancel.

When I cancelled I went on line and was directed to a phone number which had me on hold for ages, and it is of course a 0870 number so I was paying over the top for the call and making Lovefilm some money at the same time.

    This may be elsewhere on the site but here are the non-0870 number for Lovefilm;

    Switch Board 01279 770083

Other numbers (ask for customer service)

    02077517500
    01733 231231

These numbers are availible thru the 'Say No to 0870' site which has links to money saving expert, so much be mentioned elsewhere, but its a great site, http://www.saynoto0870.com/ I have no connection to this site and nothing to gain so I hope its ok posting the address on here.

    Good Luck!
  • I have had similar problems with Lovefilm. Just a thought but if you paid by direct debit and you think the money was taken incorrectly, you can ask for it to be immediately refunded under the D/D guarantee.
