Is Capped and Fixed the same thing? I'm confused!
I'm currently on Scottish Power Capped September 2011 Online NSC.
Obviously this ends in 3 months time and I am looking to change supplier.
So...I've done a couple of comparisons and NPower Go Fix 6 seems to be the cheapest fixed rate.
But...I see I can get £80 cashback if I switch to NPower Price Protector and it's only about £5-£6 more a year than Go Fix 6 (who I get no cash back for).
But the Price Protector is a CAPPED rate and Go Fix 6 is FIXED.
Are these the same things or is there some difference which could totally screw me financially for the 10 months I'd be on the rate.
Thanks in advance for any help!

Fixed means its a fixed price whatever happens.
Capped means it want go higher then the capped figure, but it could come down if prices went down.0 -
As basically said above a capped rate is better than a fixed rate all other factors (eg the rate, any sign up fees etc) being equal.
With a fixed rate it is exactly that fixed come what may.
With a capped rate the maximum possible price is known but unlike the fix prices can fall.
Npower also has a dreadful reputation for customer service of course, I certainly wouldn't be looking to switch to them if I were you.0
