Completing that 1 HNC unit at evening classes has to be a 1st move. Youre more likely to be able to move sideways into another engineering company as aan experienced enginer with HNC rather than ONC.
You could also look at upgrading your HNC to a Degree with the Open University, although you'd need to decide ehat area you want to move into - although, as above, a BEng will open more doors than an HNC if you want to stay in engineering0
