£50 Very Gift Card from Virgin Experience pricing error. Credit account: good or bad?

Anyone remember the pricing error a few months back? As a result, we were given a £50 Very gift card. Well I've still got mine and I haven't used it (yet!)
I was reading the Metro the other week and came across this offer:
'Just spend £50 or more when you open a Very credit account and enter code XXXXX at the online checkout. We'll then send you an email with an exclusive promotional code to get £50 off your next order'
What I'm concerned about is the 'credit account'. I'm no expert with these kind of things.
My plan is to open a credit account and buy 2 items that I want; which come to £50 exactly. I'll pay this using my gift card. I'll then, hopefully, receive my £50 promo code. At that point, I'll also buy some items that will total at £50.
I am a student and, therefore, I have a term-time and home address. When I open the credit account, should I open the credit account by using my home address (i.e. where bank statements are sent to)?
Also, would opening a credit account with Very be bad for my credit history in future? I don't plan to buy anything with them in future and I want to cancel my account after I've done the above.
Thanks for reading my post.

would say its fine, if you shut the account down after, not sure if you get intrest charges and not sure how long it will take to get the second gift card! xAccept that some days you're the pigeon, and some days you're the statue. Only fools are statues every day. (15.09.12 cant wait!)0
