Hi OP,
Is your ACAS conciliator not involved here? Negotiate! By all means ask them for more time so you can consider their offer and get your ACAS conciliator involved, if that's not already the case. You can negotiate a settlement any time before the hearing and really your ACAS conciliator should be helping you to reach a settlement, if that's what you want. £500 is their starting point, so surely you can build on that through negotiation.0
