Wedding Venues

Options
Hi all,

Getting married next year and looking for a good wedding venue. Obviously the cheaper the better but not the main aim of this post.

I really dislike anywhere that seems the norm eg Crawfordsburn Inn, Malone Lodge etc. I see people being married in these places all the time and they seem to be a bit of a wedding factory. Sorry if I have offended anyone, just not my type of place. In fact I am sure it will be hard to please all guests so wherever we settle on therer may be a similar opinion :)

To give you some idea of what me and my future wife to be like, we went to a wedding reception in Rayenne House in Holywood. Amazing. A wee bit different, beautiful house and Michelin Star Chef. Something quirky but not extreme.

Thanks,
C

I called them two weeks ago, and they havent been at all helpful. I'm going for a traditional service somewhere else now.

It is the busiest time of the year for them and I think they are finally reopening their Manor house next month so i expect they're just rushed off their feet (there's only one wedding planner there and she runs the entire catering outfit in the folk park too!) Not excusing any bad treatment you experienced but just so you all know the background.

I had my reception at the manor house before the renovation and would definitely recommend it, was brilliant. The manager (not sure if she is still about after renovation) was very very helpful. It was initially difficult to get them on the phone and we just called in which was best way to be honest. Think we then got a mobile number and had a few set appointments which worked well.

Am sure once renovation is complete it will be beautiful. Best grounds you could wish for. Plus we had a really sunny day which helped!

i went to see the manor, and wasn't that impressed, it re opened a month or two ago. and they also werent that helpful, but as a location and being a bit different its good!

Since i am a church goer we will be doing the church thing, then somewhere nice for the reception.

culloden have been the best help so far by a mile! quite dear but may well be worth it!
