I've still got my payslips from my first job, and usually keep all my tax documents, but there's no real need to go back 30 years like me!! All insurance policies are renewed annually (even if you stick with the same company) so when you receive your updated policy documents, destroy the previous year's because it's absolutely no use to anyone (unless there's an ongoing claim, but even then your broker will have the details). Most people who ask for copies of bank statements (when you buy a new car etc) will require 6 months worth.0

bank statments i shred straightaway, why would you keep them? Your bank can supply you with them should you need them and a simple call once a year will get your interest details from them for a tax return.
same for insurance docs.....what possible use is a 2 year old house insurance doc?0 -

They'll charge you upto a fiver a page though for providing a copy.
I got £1331.50 in bank charges refunded. all because I kept the statements going back six years.Don't lie, thieve, cheat or steal. The Government do not like the competition.
