can someone please help - im rubbish at gift buying
DD has been invited to her first ever birthday party outside of family - the child will be 4 (DD is 3) I only found out about the party yesterday (its this weekend!)
I've asked the childs mother what to buy and she suggested "anything thats to do with colouring"
Now . . . . The child has always attended DD's birthday party's and they always splash out on a really good gift.
I've no idea what to get or how much to spend (pretty skint this week!)
Can anyone suggest anything? Thanks!

Do you have any photos of DD and her friend? Could you maybe print one off in black and white (as black and white as possible with minimal grayscale) if you have a printer and then the child who;s party it is could colour it in? and you could buy a frame to go with it or something like that?0

how about a sock monkey ? poundland have some nice socks 3 pairs for £1 ( of course, lol) a set of eyes is about £1 of haberdaser and stuffing proberly about the same. you could make it cheaper buy using buttons for eyes if you have some.
or how about a colouring hamper, £land have some good colouring books and stickers felt tip and crayons. thinking about it morrisons is prob cheaper for felt tip i think they were 30p when i got some. then maybe make a crayon roll can adapt for felt tips or colouring pencils. or maybe make a pencil case instead.
i saw in 3land they had a black 2 drawer storage unit like this ( hope it works ) http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=http://thumbs3.ebaystatic.com/m/mJfsaIUWGqcC3Ebfw3TqPRQ/140.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.shopadilly.co.uk/Auctions/plastic%2520storage%2520drawers%3Fcat%3D%26seite%3D2&usg=__3AXKIAHvEEWYs6qJ9yaa1yOgiP0=&h=93&w=140&sz=6&hl=en&start=0&zoom=1&tbnid=bMGHYdLenNqkpM:&tbnh=74&tbnw=112&ei=9ZUATr-DDISj8QPznoTLDQ&prev=/search%3Fq%3D2%2Bdrawer%2Bplastic%2Bsmall%2Bstorage%2Bunit%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26sa%3DN%26rls%3Dcom.microsoft:en-gb:IE-SearchBox%26rlz%3D1I7GGLL_en-GB%26biw%3D1276%26bih%3D780%26tbm%3Disch&um=1&itbs=1&iact=rc&dur=282&page=1&ndsp=30&ved=1t:429,r:6,s:0&tx=30&ty=47
and then fill it up with crayons, pencils, caulk, sticks, paints etc. so it is like a little treasure chest of goodies.0 -
i would do a crafty bits parcel also they always go down well, tescos or £land are brilliant for the crafty bits. i personally would avoid any toy etc with tiny parts or bits that could come loose especially if the birthday child has younger siblings.:xmastree:Is loving life right now,yes I am a soppy fool who believes in the simple things in life :xmastree:0

Thank you for the replies!
I like the idea of the crafty box - that way even if she does have them they will keep
Thanks!!0 -
Early learnign centre do really good crafty supplies. Lots of "different" bits aswell. A friend bought my 4 year old some on his bday and he loves it!0

argh dont ive fell out with them now.
Ordered yesterday (before 4pm) paid £8 for delivery today (i know - not mse!) had email 4am this morning saying they could attempt delivery up until 9pm. I've had it delivered to my work - which closes at 6!
Rang elc, cant track order or call courier. If they deliver after 6 then they will leave a card to re-deliver - which then wont be here in time for DD's party as I'm at hospital on friday and they said it wouldnt be re-delivered tomorrow.
So now - I'm £8 down, no present and very annoyed. fingers crossed its here before 6pm!
doesnt state anywhere on any emails (otehr than this mornings) that its 9pm delivery - even website doesnt state it0
