What would be the consequences of refinancing my loan then? I want to pay this loan off asap but I know banks are after profits so worry about them managing to get more money from me!

I have a Santander loan, against MSE advice I am actually allowing it to run it's course as I don't want the subsequent aggro and defaults against my account.

A&L used to be so good as well :(

there is no problem about early (full) settlement
there is nothing in principle stopping you getting another loan and using the money to settle the Santander debt
obviously make sure the interest rate and monthly payment suits you
