Please help - I'm so confused!!!!!

A salesperson from Scottish Power recently came round and promised she could save me over £100 on my duel fuel as EDF Energy (my current supplier) include a standing charge on my monthly bills. So I switched, but had a call from EDF yesterday saying I've done the wrong thing as Scottish Power will be £100 more expensive!! I am soooo confused, I dont know who to believe!!??

HELP!!!!!!!! :(:mad::(

    you need to look at the tariff you are on now compared with the tariff with Scottish Power to see who you would be better off with.

    I am with EDF and have just changed from their Online Saver to fixed until Sept 2012. the standing charge I believe is going to be around 28p per day, but the per Kwh charge is around 8p, yes scottish power may not do a daily standing charge but then they charge around 15-20p per kwh. depending on how many you use per day (I average 16 kwh per day) then you can start to weigh it all up. For me, it's cheaper to have a standing charge, but if you're a very low user it may not be

    The guy who rang me from EDF told me to do a comparison on U-Switch and it will show that EDF were a lot cheaper. But I did the comparrison this morning and Scottish Power were £150 cheaper.. I cant afford to pay the £60 to EDF to leave, so now I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place.. I wish I hadn't tried to leave :(

    Did this sales person take your usage into actual usage into account... ie did you get out a recent bill(s)? or did they imply say i can reduce your ddeb? If the latter, you have definitely been missold.

    Always check with current supplier before agreeing as more and more tariffs carry a cancellation charge.
    Promo codes are never always cheaper..... isnt that right EuropCar?

    Nope, she said she can decrease my monthly bills :( I have been missold a rubbish deal! I have just phoned Scottish Power and the person I spoke to agreed that the tarriff I have gone onto is more expensive! Someone from their complaints department is going to ring me back today. Now the bad thing is I am still liable to pay EDF the £60 cancellation fee even if I go back to them :'(

    It's a lose / lose situation and I feel cheated!

    Demand that Spower reimburse you the £60 fee you have to pay them....
    Also complain to OFGEM as you have been clearly missold.
    If i want round doing the practice of this girl, i would be a top seller!

    I worked in sales with SP for just under 4 years and if you raise a complaint it would be treated seriously. They do not put up with misleading tactics.

    Has the transfer actually happened yet or have you signed for a transfer & EDF are still trying to encourage you to stay before they lose the business? If it has not actually gone through yet I would argue the £60 should not be charged if I were you.

    If it has I would try arguing the toss with both - eg that Scottish Power should reimburse it if they missold to you & that EDF should as a gesture of goodwill waive it given that you're staying with them see what happens. If EDF inists on charging you is it worth going back to them or is there someone else who could offer a similar deal?

    if you are within 7 (or 14) days, dependent on the company, you can cancel as this is a cooling off period. Most companies have a 14 day cooling off. Also if you feel you have been mis-sold or given incorrect information you can ask for the supply to be transferred back as an Erroneous Transfer as if you had never left your previous / current supplier.
