:) If I stick all my 'shopping list' into Tescos it current comes to around £150. That is catering for 60 people, when actually we've only got 53 guests (so I guess it's closer to £3)... now this isn't including anything like platters, plates or cutlery - they are obviously going to bump the price up. Lol wish I'd never bothered writing it out now (although I didn't I just copied it from the last time someone asked about buffets)! Seriously though thanks for caring enough to worry. Would rather be told now I've got too much/too little so I can adjust it. This is my first ever buffet so I'm more than happy to admit I may have things wrong.

    *edit*
Just putting all my shopping list into tescos just to see. (lol bloody hell I'm not actually doing this buffet till July 2012!)

Oh OK, that makes me feel a little better about it :) Oh...and does it exclude the booze, too?

Okay just incase anyone's interested lol:

I can get all the food apart from the cheesecakes for £134.33 today at Tescos (with only £14.70 of multibuy savings). (There will be 53 of us at most, so that works out at £2.53 a head).

    7 Tesco Breaded Chicken Nuggets 475G £10.57
    6 Tesco 24 Mini Vegetable Spring Rolls 432G £14.94
    6 Tesco 50 Sausage Rolls 800G £8.28
    2 Tesco Mixed Peppers 3 Pack £3.30
    6 Tesco Bitesize 20 Mini Savoury Eggs 240G £10.08
1 Tesco Bacon And Leek Quiche 400G £1.88
1 Tesco Broccoli And Tomato Quiche 400G £1.88
1 Tesco Cheese And Onion Quiche 400G £1.87
1 Tesco Quiche Lorraine 400G £1.87 (The quantity of quiches is halved due to the discussions above).
    5 Tesco 40 Cooked Pork Cocktail Sausages 400G £9.75
3 Tesco Large Melton Mowbray Pork Pie 440G £5.97 (This quantity is halved due to the discussions above).
    12 Tesco Spicy Cous Cous 250G £13.08
    6 Tesco Italian Pasta 465G £6.90
    5 Tesco Creamy Potato Salad 600G £6.25
    5 Tesco Creamy Coleslaw 600G £6.25
    3 Tesco British Medium Cheddar 500G £8.10
    3 Cucumber Whole Each £2.40
4 Tesco Wafer Thin Roast Turkey 215G £7.20
5 Tesco Iceberg Lettuce Each Class 1 £5.00
27 Tomatoes On The Vine Loose Class 1 £3.76
2 Tesco Wafer Thin Honey Roast Ham 450G £6.00
    1 Tesco Sandwich Pickle 620G £1.23
    1 Tesco Mayonnaise 750Ml £1.27
2 Tesco Tuna Chunks In Brine 400G £2.98
3 Warburtons Wholemeal Bread Medium Sliced 800G £4.17
3 Warburtons Medium Sliced White Bread 800G £4.05

If we are to add the price of plates/cutlery etc:

3 Tesco Plates Extra Strength (each one has 25 in) £7.50
    6 Tesco White Napkin 40Cm 20Pk £10.68 (enough for 2 each)
8 Tesco Clear Cutlery 24Pk £16.32 (knife & fork for buffet, spoon for cheesecake)

This brings the total to £168.83 or £3.19 a head.

I haven't included the cheesecake cause that comes under the wedding cake row of my spreadsheet. Nor have I accounted for glassware because I haven't calculated that yet.

Jojitsui - lol hope this helps you! (I seem to be monopolising this thread somewhat!)

(This post took me around 50 mins to write!! It had better be worth it lol).

I'm making enough so each person can have:

1/4 of each 4 sandwiches (triangles lol)
4 heaped tablespoons (50g) of the four relishes/salads (coleslaw, potato salad, pasta salad, couscous salad)
400g quiche, 250g of porkpie, 5 sausage rolls, 2 vegetable spring rolls, 3 cocktail sausages, 2 mini savoury eggs
    Handful of salad.
Plus 5cm square of cheesecake (my wedding cake)
I have tried to imagine all this piled up on a normal sized paper plate and I think it'd be ample. (and should be enough for seconds).
That's a great spread, and I'd have it all, but:

    I'd want 1.5x the sandwiches
I'd pile on the potato salad (3x) and pasta salad (2-3x)
400g quiche sounds wrong, maybe that was a typo... but I'd have 2-3 slices of that
Make mine 12 cocktail sausages and 6-8 savoury eggs

    You can keep the porkpie.

I think I'd better go last or there won't be any left for others :)

I think that was my bad...I read it as "we're doing it for £2.50 a head including this stuff:" and the big list. I didn't really register that not everything in the big list was in the shopping list underneath :)

I'll give you my eggs if I can have your pork pie? :)

:) even if I double up all the sandwiches so everyone could have 8 triangles the overall price (without cutlery etc) would only be £172.02 (£3.24 each).
Adding the cutlery brings it to £3.89 each.

A local bakers does a bog standard buffet (a selection of six choices. Including sandwiches, sausage rolls, pork pie, plum bread and scones) for £5.94 a head so as long as I'm under that I'm very happy.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH *can you hear the light bulb moment?*
Lol it was because I'd copied my first post on this thread from two posts on another buffet related thread - so you're right- it does read like I was saying "2.50 a head everything included". :)

You can both have the mini-scotch eggs and the pork pies - they are both yucky stuff *gags*.
