could anyone please tell me if i can find out if someone has been made bankrupt in scotland?

If it's fairly recent, try the Register of insolvencies on the Accountant in Bankruptcy website. You will need to register, but it's free to access.
If it was last year or before, you could also try the Edinburgh Gazette, also available online.
Bankruptcies since November last year aren't published in the Edinburgh Gazette. And older bankruptcies aren't in the Register of Insolvencies0
