Any alternatives to supermarkets for online fruit/veg delivery?

I know about Abel & Cole but I have heard they are overpriced and the quality is not brilliant.

I don't want to pay much more than supermarket prices but since Tesco's seems to be decreasing the amount of fruit they put in each pack whilst increasing the prices, I'm wondering if there are any good online places to order fruit/veg deliveries?

Any recommendations welcome (please describe how much you get for price and what the quality is like). Thanks.

I get a box every few weeks from Riverford Organics and I'm very impressed.
You enter your postcode on your website to see if they deliver to you.

I used to get the "seasons" box for about £13, and this had a good selection of veg. There are 2 adults and 1 4 year old in our house, and it would last us a week or more. We stopped getting this box as kept getting things we didn't really want like beetroot or jerusalum artichokes.

Now changed to the "favourites" box, which is about £14. This week got a big box of tomatoes, a box of mushrooms, a bag of salad leaves, a bag of new potatoes, 3 red peppers, 6 onions, carrots, broccoli, beans.
The produce lasts longer than that bought in the shops as its not washed. That is one of the main reasons I buy it, as I kept finding everything had gone off really quickly if I got it from the shops pre packaged. Being organic is just another benefit.
They do have fruit boxes as well, but I don't get these as I have fruit trees in my garden.
:j Is MSE saving me money, or making me spend more on all the bargains?!:j
  • If you google veg box schemes some should come up in your area.
I did look into this but found the boxes were expensive & limited. Mainly I suppose as they supply local produce, also the season is a factor. The veg can be things you don't like & fruit is basically limited to apples & pears.

One site I did find which gave you a much wider choice was foodari. Mind you, must admit, I didn't try them & decided just to contine to buy my fruit & veg locally.
