About the overdraft - I can undersand not wanting your OH to clear it for you, but it might be sensible if they are charging that much! The only potential problem I could see is if you then don't feel you are in so much "real debt" as it were, as OHs have a way of being understanding... If you know you'll clear it by August for sure, and your OH has the spare money floating about and is willing (which I assume he is! :)), I would say go for it. But then, if you would feel more proud of clearing it yourself (which I do understand) it is just £10... a lot in interest I know BUT if that is all that is added to it before you pay it off it might not seem so bad?

Sorry, not sure I've been particularly helpful there! :rotfl:I tried!

Hi lotti, you have been really helpful thanks, it helps to see things from an outsiders perspective. I've decided not to ask OH to do that for the overdraft. In the grand scheme of things £10 isn't so much in interest/charges and I think I would start to feel it is less of a 'real debt' and not put such a priority on it if I was owing it to OH. I think the achievement of paying it off myself will be worth the extra £10. May not be the full DFW/MSE way but still, I think it's best for me.

In other news I've bought the groupon voucher for the Rosetta Stone language course today. I've been taking french classes through work and really been struggling. The teacher suggested this for a bit of self study but I didn't buy it as the cost was extortionate (sp?). The groupon was 60% off however so I thought it was too good to let it go, although it has blown a bit of a hole in the budget. Fingers crossed it's worth it.

Nice surprise on the DFW front today, I sent my old ipod touch to fonebank this week expecting £22 but I got an email today saying it is actually a 2nd generation ipod touch and therefore worth £35, yay! :j

Egg loan payment went out today too, so I've updated my signature. I officially owe £7186 as of today. And I reckon with the ipod and the in-credit part of my credit card I can pay off another £60 this month.

Had a really good night riding tonight, we had a little competition in the class and I came 1st in the jumping! :T to myself ;) Need to remember this feeling when I'm feeling tempted to spend. If I resist the spending for the next 209(!) days then I can do that 3 times a week, not once. Good incentive.

Hmm, having a bit of a stressful week this week. Found out at work that I am only 25% of my pay grade. Which considering they keep telling me how much I am achieving and what a valuable asset I am to the team seems more like a kick in the teeth than anything else. Also they are talking about moving me up a grade next year (if I successfully complete my chartership application. So how that fits with only being 25% of the grade I don't know? Am really not happy about it.

I have got hold of my job description and set up an appointment with my boss next Wednesday to discuss my objectives and I am going to bring it up then. There were tears at work on Monday, never the best situation. :o

Apart from that, I am struggling to stick to my remaining budget a bit. i got totally lost in the car on Sunday, missed my riding lesson in a new place (that I had pre-paid for) and used loads of fuel. Then have realised how many birthdays and anniversarys there are in July. Am going to have to duck out of a couple of celebrations I think because there is no way I can afford it. Hopefully people will be okay with that.

Spending money remaining for the month = £351.81
Money in reserve (in savings account, supposed to be for OD :o) = £77.04
    Planned spends:
    Sister's birthday day out £72
Weekend on West Coast with OH £150
    Competition fees £26
Left over for food, petrol, nights out, presents £103 ish.
Supposed to be going out - tonight, next Thursday, leaving lunch out at work next week, Saturday night and next wednesday. Am going to give tonight and next Thurs a miss. Saturday I will not drink and the other two I can't really get out of. Also need to buy a birthday present for a very good friend with expensive tastes, hoping I can get something in the sales.
I've got about 2/3rds of a tank of petrol which should last me about a week and then I will need to fill it full again to last till the end of the month (about £65) .

Can't seem to make these figures add up! Really need to curtail my unecessary spending as much as poss, may even investigate a spending diary. I think the bare minimum I would be happy with is if I don't have to use my credit card again to get me to payday, if I achieve that then I think that will be enough.

Sorry for the brain dump this morning, just really needed to get it out of my head! And so to work...

You poor thing! What a rough week... what does the pay grade thing mean? Sorry to be stupid....

Not being able to go out with friends really sucks, but I think your plan is good, and not drinking really does make a difference. Especially if you have something like soda water or tonic water, then no-one can even tell! :D
