House surveying

Afternoon all,

I'm in the process of buying a house, scary times. My mortgage provider will be doing a valuation survey, but I don't think that'll be sufficient and I'm thinking it would be sensible to get a decent building survey carried out.

Any recommendations or experience in this. Would be the North Down area.

Sold mine recently and the survey done on mine from the buyers bank (Northern Bank) was quiet a complex survey that took about an hour to complete. Very pleasant man he was too but he did a complete and proper survey of every aspect of the house and grounds.

I don't know if a privately paid for survey would do any more Bc to be honest.

I got my mortgage through Halifax and they offered 2 types of survey, the dearer one was more in depth than the standard one and gave us loads of details that we wouldn't have known about otherwise. I'd check with whoever you're getting your mortgage through, they may have different levels of surveys. Good luck with the new home!
