Been there, done that and thank goodness the worst is over. This came on so fast, not sure why it got me down so much this time but I couldn't speak for 4 days, and lung function was very laboured. Just a sniffle remaining now, thank heavens.Feeling better, not really bad, just this burning throat which keeps coming back!!
VfM4meplse - how are you BTW, you were "iffy" at the weekend??Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

Yum! I'm house-sitting for my parents in a couple of weeks time, and having a load of friends over for a hm pizza night but your post has made me think I'd rather do fresh falafel instead...will remind me of my trip to Israel last year. It's definitely worth making in bulk, since I'm opening a jar of tahini I'll use the rest up in making hm hummus.Had a fallefel burger from the freezer for lunch (eating early as have a meeting at 1).
600ml at 10p works best IMOwe could come to some arrangement:D he hasn't made any since as we haven't found any reduced cream. he used one pot but I didn't weigh it so not sure how much butter we got
. I thought I'd post the original link to make-your-own butter as a reminder (also featured on Superscrimpers): https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/129491
I bought a pineapple and 2 bags of oranges from Aldi on Monday, was a bit silly not to buy the kiwis as well but since I ate nearly nothing last week, I have enough food to keep me going until next week. Am tempted to pop into Sainsbos tonight as a treat - I'll be on the prowl for reduced double cream lol.Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

Gorgeous day, couldn't resist the allotment so now I have artichokes sat here as they needed digging up. Got a whole dustbin-full that will go to waste though as I can't eat them all and there's far too many to re-plant.
Quorn sausage and onion pasta tonight I think as I have some hm passata to use up.0 -
Nooooo......you mustn't, it's against MSE law! :eek:Got a whole dustbin-full that will go to waste though as I can't eat them all and there's far too many to re-plant.
Have you thought of marinating them, Italian-style as anti-pasti? Ask all your friends and neighbours for old glass jars, stick them in the dishwasher and get pickling!http://www.yummly.com/recipe/Marinated-Artichoke-Hearts-_-Mushrooms-RecipezaarValue-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

I know, I hate wasting them!! I would put them on freecycle but they are too heavy to bring home.
They are the jerusalem artichokes rather than the other type so not sure what else I could do with them, now they are dug up they won't last more than a week as they dry out quick (had to dig them up so could re-plant just a few otherwise would have hundreds coming up shortly!).
Will have some in a gratin tomorrow I think mixed with some celeriac and swede.0 -
Had to go to Tesco today for some tea bags & they had organic chicken whoopsied :T Quite pleased as I got rid of the value chicken breasts left over from other flatmate....my neighbours dog was given them
So funny I'm quite friendly with a lady who lives down the road, I mentioned it to her & she said she'd be more than happy to take it off my hands and cook for her labrador. Couldn't bear to just chuck them but feel in a way it's less wasteful..
Tomorrow I'm having whoopsied pork from the freezer with whoopsied sweet & sour sauce. Either with rice or noodles...got plenty of those :eek:0 -
Kirri. what about jerusalem artichoke soup ? Or sticking them outside your house with an honesty box ? Or calling local restaurants to flog them off ..
I'm officially fatigued after three supermarkets with my mother !!
Freezer has now been fed:
2 500g packs British beef mince 1.89 each Lidl
ASDA frozen scallops
Morrisons frozen fish pie mix £3 (new product) will use for soup
Morrisons 2 whole dabs = 1.21 at fish counter
Morrisons Cornish sole with parsley prepacked £2 and change each
Morrisons Scottish salmon fillets x2 prepackaged again £2 and change each for huge bit
Morrisons ray wings 2 packs yellow label
Morrisons whole gurnard.. it just has the sweetest face..in French it's rascasse and I did confuse the fishmonger by asking for a rascasse oops.
President butter which has gone up 5p since I was last in Morrisons !
ASDA lamb meatballs 2 packs for £4 cos I thought maybe I can do some sort of Middle Easternish sauce for them
Morrisons 4 lamb chops from the butchers counter 6.49 really thick cut largeish ones so I thought that wasn't bad
Dinner tonight is whole rainbow trout 2 FOR £4 with yellow label green beans and special offer asparagus all from ASDA0 -

Ooh hadn't thought of restaurants.. I've left them in a bin on the plot though now! but I wonder if they would have bought them, they aren't cheap in shops! Allotment to home on foot is all uphill so although I used to leave a box in the communal hallway with spare veg for other residents to help themselves, it was too hard work carrying it home just to give away and people are rude/unfriendly here anyway! - I didn't bother with an honesty box as in London people would just take the veg or the money or both probably!! Must admit I can't imagine them in soups, will google it. I've only had them in a gratin or I did the Nigel Slated roasted with lemon juice recipe.0 -
Done a mini shop yesterday, got a bag of mixed veg, petit Lois, 3 packs of the kettle crisps, a bag of tilda rice that was £6.50 for 4kg half price, I pay £3.25 for a 2kg bag of sainsburys own, so thought id get this and a mango spent £15 of gc buget today I bought 4 racks of ribs, they are huge, my grandmas bday is st Patricks day and mothers day is the next day, so we are having a family gathering, with everybody bringing a dish, so im bringing ribs, spent £12 on that and some ham from my neighbours shop, which is a posh. Butchers got a discount, froze one of the racks seperately, but the other 3 which are huge, will be popped in sc then, taken to my grandmas and finished in the oven to crisp up,Lose 28lb 3/28lb

Popped into Tesco as we had to go to the tip and Tesco is near and still got some coupons to use up.
Mostly non-food toiletries/household and got a spend down from £7.67 to £1.67 using 6 x £1 SSM coupons.
Got 2 Tesco "whoopsies", a pack of rhubarb crumbles for 43p and a pack of veggie cheese and leek sausages for 38p.
Nothing worthwhile reduced in Sainsbury's, but they had organic extra virgin olive oil for only £1.50 (clearance), so got 1 bottle.
Total for budget = £2.31.
Back to Tesco tomorrow to use up rest of coupons and might get the Lurpak on offer (2 for £2).
